The first covenant was becoming obsolete, growing old, ready to vanish away (Heb. 8.13), and Jesus ushered in a new covenant more glorious and more powerful than the first. Moses had constructed the tabernacel according to God's exact pattern (8.5), and the pattern becomes clear in Jesus, our High Priest of good things to come!
