The Hebrew author returns to the subject of Melchizedek in chapter 7, showing several wonderful parallels between High Priest (and King) Melchizedek and our High Priest Jesus. But Jesus is from the tribe of Juday, and the high priests under the Mosaic covenant were supposed to only come from the tribe of Levi. Since there is a change in priesthood, there is also a change in law, our author contends.
